Farm Manager Role 

To Start: Summer 2020

Full Time Position

Exciting role for an innovative, enthusiastic Farm Manager on a 1,000Ha mixed no-till family farm in North Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will work with the two Partners of the business and lead a team of three other full-time farm workers in the day-to-day running of the farm. The candidate will be encouraged to share the team's commitment to soil regeneration. 

The farm has been under a no-till system on the 2,000 acres of combinable crops for 9 years and the herd of 400 Pasture-For Life Certified beef cattle form part of the arable rotation with herbal leys and cover crops. 

The farm also hosts an annual regenerative agriculture show and conference with field-trial direct drill demonstrations and leading soil health speakers from around the world. The candidate should show an interest in engaging with this sector of the agricultural and scientific community. The role involves preparation of the showground including plots and trials, working with partnership organisations. The candidate will have opportunities for personal development in being part of this and other exciting projects hosted on site and for engaging with the public.

The estate also manages commercial and residential properties with three biomass boilers supplied by woodchip fuel from the estate.

Other enterprises in the pipeline to be involved in include direct marketing of produce, applicant should be able to engage with the public. 

The full-time manager of the farm would answer directly to the Partners.

Remuneration: Competitive salary plus house, to be reviewed after 6 month probationary period.
